The CEA (Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission) is a prominent actor in research, development and innovation in three main areas: energy, health and information technologies, defence and global security.
CEA has been awarded in 2005 to conduct the French trans-governmental CBRN-E R&D program and has developed a multitude of innovative technologies to fight nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical threats, as well as improvised explosive devices. In addition, CEA has developed activities in the protection of infrastructures, security of information systems and crisis management.
In parallel, CEA is bringing its technical support to French authorities and, on the European side, is a major contributor to FP7/European Security Research Program and also gives its support to Commission in terms of expertise through dedicated networks.
